  • There’s been a lot of trashing of Kate Middleton’s official portrait, unveiled last week. But GOOD talks about how her insistence on being portrayed naturally actually makes her a kind of role model.
  • Alisa Valdes, author of “The Feminist and the Cowboy” has spoken out, despite her publisher’s wishes. about the disturbing and abusive relationship that inspired the book (via Tracy Clark-Flory at Salon).
  • Over at the Skinny, Michael J. Dolan reflects on what it was like to realize that some of his stand-up comedy was misogynist.
  • Towleroad shares a report on the most recent protest against marriage equality in France, in which hundreds of thousands took to the streets, showing the French government may have an uphill battle to get the marriage law expanded.
  • The Advocate helps unmask where some of that opposition is coming from, showing the US National Organization for Marriage (NOM) to be behind at least one major French opposition website.
  • Similarly, Queerty reports that in England, more than 1,000 Catholic priests, bishops and other clergy have signed a letter saying PM Cameron’s marriage equality bill could mean “centuries of persecution” for British Catholics. #headdesk.
  • As reported in the Montreal Gazette, Canadian Women in the Literary Arts is challenging the lack of female book reviewers in our national media.
  • And finally, Black Feminists Manchester has some great tips for recognizing and fighting racism in white feminist spaces.
